Heartbeat Haven Sanctuary

We’re here when animals and the people who love them run out of options.

Animal rescue • Ethical rehoming • Lifetime sanctuary • Crisis support

Heartbeat Haven Sanctuary is a registered charity based in Toogoolawah, helping animals and the people who care for them across the Somerset Region and surrounding communities.

Why we exist

When circumstances change, animals can be left with nowhere to go.

Rescue organisations are stretched.

People trying to responsibly rehome a farm animal often have nowhere trustworthy to turn.

And people facing domestic violence, hospitalisation, sudden aged-care entry or other serious crises can be forced to choose between their own safety and the animals they love.

Heartbeat Haven is building practical local solutions to those problems.

What We Do

Different situations need different solutions.

Crisis Support

Crisis support is one of the ways Heartbeat Haven fills a gap that traditional rescue often cannot.

We help people facing serious personal crises avoid losing the animals they love simply because they need temporary support.

Rescue and Rehabilitation

Safe care, veterinary treatment and rehabilitation for animals who need another chance.

Ethical Rehoming

Helping owners find appropriate new homes while keeping animal welfare at the centre of every decision.

Lifetime Sanctuary

For animals who cannot safely or ethically be rehomed, Heartbeat Haven becomes home.

Sometimes rescue means taking an animal in.

Sometimes it means helping them stay with the person who loves them.

Local support. Visible impact.

Support that becomes something tangible.

Heartbeat Haven is deliberately local and practical.

Support can become veterinary treatment. Rehabilitation. Emergency care. Temporary crisis support. Or simply assistance to help an animal reach the right outcome.

Already doing the work.

Heartbeat Haven is not a future concept. We’re already providing lifetime sanctuary care, supporting ethical rehoming and building practical pathways for animals and people who have run out of good options.

Our focus now is on strengthening that work, expanding what we can responsibly provide and building the partnerships that will allow us to help more effectively over the long term.

Work with us

A partnership doesn't need to be large to be useful. It needs to be practical.

Some businesses support Heartbeat Haven financially. Others help in ways that can be just as valuable.

Practical ways businesses can help

Products, materials and equipment.
Items that improve animal care, housing, transport, rehabilitation or day-to-day operations.

Professional and trade support.
Veterinary, construction, legal, accounting, marketing, technical or other specialist services.

Fundraising and campaign support.
Prizes, experiences, venue access, promotional support or contributions that help us raise funds more effectively.

Discounted goods and services.
Charity pricing or reduced-cost access to products and services we would otherwise need to purchase at full cost.

Expertise, introductions and volunteering.
Professional knowledge, useful connections, staff involvement or practical support that helps us solve problems well.

If your business can solve a problem, provide a resource or help us reach more people, there is probably a meaningful way we can work together.

Why we started

We saw people facing sudden personal crises trying desperately to hold onto the animals they loved, simply because there was nowhere safe for them to go temporarily.

People wanted to do the right thing and find a safe, responsible new home, but often didn’t know where to turn or who they could trust.

Older animals, animals with health issues, and those with more complex needs were being left with fewer and fewer pathways forward.

We believed our community could do better.

So we decided to build something that could help.

How we work

We want to build this properly.

Heartbeat Haven is built around careful decisions, responsible growth and practical outcomes.

Welfare before numbers

We do not measure success by how many animals we take in. Every rescue, rehoming and sanctuary decision considers capacity, welfare, long-term care and whether we can genuinely improve the outcome for the animal involved.

Outcomes before ownership

Sometimes the right outcome is lifetime sanctuary. Sometimes it’s rehabilitation and a carefully chosen new home. In other cases, the best outcome is helping an animal remain safely with the person who loves them.

Collaboration over isolation

We believe good rescue work should not happen in isolation. Heartbeat Haven is building relationships with local businesses, veterinarians, community organisations, council and other rescue groups so that support is coordinated, practical and sustainable.

Long-term thinking

Our focus is long term. We are building the infrastructure, systems and partnerships needed to make Heartbeat Haven useful to the community for years to come, without compromising the standard of care we provide.

Community partnerships

We can provide the land, care, time and commitment.

Community partnerships help us do more, sooner, and do it properly.

We're building relationships with businesses that want their support to create something practical and lasting for animals and people in our community.

Could your business be part of it?

Whether you have an idea, a resource to contribute, or simply want to learn more about Heartbeat Haven, we'd be glad to start a conversation.
